Bryan Beach was most likely named for local landowner James Perry Bryan during the second half of the 20th century. It served fishermen and beachgoers. Bryan Beach State Recreation Area is located a couple of miles down the beach and opened in 1973. No businesses were operating in the community, but it did have 14 residents in 2000.
This beach is known as Bryan Beach. It is just a few miles away from Surfside and Quintana beaches. Texas State Highway 288, the Nolan Ryan Expressway, leads north from Freeport 17 miles (27 km) to Angleton, the county seat, and 61 miles (98 km) to downtown Houston. Texas State Highway 36 leads northwest 15 miles (24 km) to Brazoria.
The Intracoastal Waterway on the northwest separates Quintana from the main portion of Freeport. According to the United States Census Bureau , the town of Quintana has a total area of 2.0 square miles (5.2 km 2 ), of which 0.66 square miles (1.7 km 2 ) are land and 1.4 square miles (3.5 km 2 ), or 67.87%, are covered by water.
Surfside Beach, also known locally as Surfside, is a city in Brazoria County, Texas, United States, that is situated on Follet's Island by the Gulf of Mexico near the city of Freeport. The population was 640 at the 2020 census. [ 4 ]

Texas State Highway 36 runs through the community, leading east 6 miles (10 km) to Freeport and northwest 9 miles (14 km) to Brazoria. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.6 square miles (6.8 km 2), of which 2.6 square miles (6.7 km 2) is land and 0.039 square miles (0.1 km 2), or 1.61%, is water.
