The first commercial use of CR-39 monomer (ADC) was to help create glass-reinforced plastic fuel tanks for the B-17 bomber aircraft in World War II, reducing the weight and increasing the range of the bomber. After the war, the Armorlite Lens Company in California is credited with manufacturing the first CR-39 eyeglass lenses in 1947.
Fuel additives in the United States are regulated under section 211 of the Clean Air Act (as amended in January 1995). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires the registration of all fuel additives which are commercially distributed for use in highway motor vehicles in the United States, [8] and may require testing and ban harmful additives.
Marvel Mystery Oil logo. Marvel Mystery Oil is an automotive product of the American Marvel Oil Company, [1] founded by Burt Pierce in 1923. [2] It is used as a fuel additive and oil additive, purportedly to function as a corrosion inhibitor, penetrating oil, transmission leak stopper and seal relubricator, despite a lack of scientific evidence supporting such claims.
The repair for this type of problem depends on the severity of the deposits. In milder cases, a mechanic may solve the problem by adding a can of fuel-injector cleaner into the gas tank. However, in some cases, the fuel injectors must be replaced. Deposits formed on the intake valves may be removed via walnut shell blasting.
Oil additives are chemical compounds that improve the lubricant performance of base oil (or oil "base stock"). The manufacturer of many oils can use the same base stock for each formulation and can choose different additives for each use. Additives comprise up to 5% by weight of some oils. [1]
These are usually adjacent to fuel pumps so the driver can fill both tanks without moving the truck. In Europe, increasing numbers of fuel stations offer dispensers that pump Diesel Exhaust Fluid rather than the traditional method of using disposable, single-use plastic containers.
