Waterford City and County Council (Irish: Comhairle Cathrach agus Contae Phort Láirge) is the local authority of the City of Waterford and County Waterford in Ireland. It came into operation on 1 June 2014 after the 2014 local elections . [ 1 ]
The authority came into operation on 1 June 2014. Prior to this the city had its own local council, Waterford City Council. The new council is the result of a merger of Waterford City Council and Waterford County Council. The council has 32 representatives (councillors) who are elected from six local electoral areas.
In 2014, Waterford City and County Council was formed by the merger of Waterford City Council and Waterford County Council by the Local Government Reform Act 2014. [6] The merged council then had a Mayor for the city and county. [7] [8]
