The Ala-Archa Nature Park (Kyrgyz: Ала-Арча кыргыз мамлекеттик жаратылыш паркы, Russian: Государственный природный национальный парк Ала-Арча) is an alpine national park in the Tian Shan mountains of Kyrgyzstan, located approximately 35 km south of the capital city of Bishkek.
Kyrgyzstan, [a] officially the Kyrgyz Republic, [b] [13] is a landlocked country in Central Asia, lying in the Tian Shan and Pamir mountain ranges. Bishkek is the capital and largest city. Kyrgyzstan is bordered by Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the west, Tajikistan to the south, and China to the east and southeast.
The mountains of Kyrgyzstan are geologically young, so that the physical terrain is marked by sharply uplifted peaks separated by deep valleys. [2] There is also considerable glaciation, [2] with the largest glacier being the Engilchek Glacier. [4]
