The campus located at the now Lakeland Middle School was built in 1962 and was moved into as soon as it was completed. [6] In 1979, that building became the junior high school. [3] [7] The school colors are green and gold and the mascot is a hawk. Even though Rathdrum is a small city, many people attend Lakeland High School.

Lakeland High School is a member of the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) and is home to 14 boys and 14 girls varsity teams across 18 different sports. [7] Lakeland has won five state titles since opening in 1975. These include four in boys' cross country (1991, 1996, 1997, 2016), [8] and one in girls' bowling (2006). [9]
