Completion of the north end left a 4.0-mile (6.4 km) gap between the Marlborough–Hudson and Acton–Maynard portions of the trail. The east end of this gap is a dirt road known as Track Road, but no bridges over the two crossings of the Assabet River exist and some parts are on private property. It passes the northern end of Route 151, and bends northeast as it intersects the western end of Route 16.
