Maurizio Gucci (26 September 1948 – 27 March 1995) was an Italian businessman and the one-time head of the Gucci fashion house. He was the son of actor Rodolfo Gucci, and grandson of the company's founder Guccio Gucci. On 27 March 1995, he was shot and killed by a hitman hired by his former wife Patrizia Reggiani.
On 31 January 1997, Patrizia was arrested and accused of hiring the hitman who murdered Gucci. The trial garnered intense media interest, with the local press dubbing her the "Black Widow". [ 21 ] [ 22 ] [ 5 ] According to prosecutors, Patrizia's motive was a mixture of jealousy, money, and resentment towards her ex-husband. [ 23 ]
