LaTocha Reney Scott-Bivens, [1] (née Scott; born October 2, 1973) also known by her mononym LaTocha, is an American R&B and Gospel singer, songwriter, and occasional actress. She is best known as a member of the multi-platinum selling R&B group Xscape , who rose to popularity in the 1990s.
Xscape (/ ɪ k ˈ s k eɪ p / or / ɛ k ˈ s k eɪ p /) (also known as Xscap3) is an American girl group from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 1990 by Kandi Burruss, Tamera Coggins, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, LaTocha Scott, and Tamika Scott. The following year, Coggins left the group and Xscape became a quartet.
The song was covered and made popular by American girl group Xscape, who recorded the song for their second album Off the Hook (1995). The song was released as the album's second single on October 3, 1995, in the United States, by So So Def Recordings. [2] The song features lead vocals by LaTocha Scott and Tamika Scott. Tamika Scott was born on November 19, 1974, College Park, Georgia to Gloria McFarlin, a teacher, and Randolph Scott, a pastor and former singer in the R&B group The Scott Three. [2] Tamika's older sister, LaTocha Scott, is also a singer and a member of Xscape. At an early age, Scott was encouraged to sing in church and local talent shows. [2]
