The 2021–22 season is Burton Albion's 72nd year in their history and fourth consecutive season in League One. Along with the league, the club will also compete in the FA Cup, the EFL Cup and the EFL Trophy. The season covers the period from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022.
The 2022–23 season is the 73rd season in the existence of Burton Albion Football Club and the club's fifth consecutive season in League One. In addition to the league, they will also compete in the 2022–23 FA Cup, the 2022–23 EFL Cup and the 2022–23 EFL Trophy.
Burton Albion were formed in 1950 and initially joined the Birmingham & District League before switching to the Southern League eight years later. They were promoted from the Southern League Division One in 1965–66, 1971–72 and 1973–74 and were relegated from the Southern League Premier Division in 1970, 1973 and 1977.
After a disastrous start to 2022–23, Hasselbaink resigned as Burton Albion manager. [27] Dino Maamria took over the reigns of a club that had just one point after seven matches, successfully guiding the club to survival in 15th place.
