Kōji Shiraishi (白石 晃士, Shiraishi Kōji, born June 1, 1973) is a Japanese film director, screenwriter, and occasional actor.He is primarily known for directing Japanese horror films, including Noroi: The Curse (2005), Carved: The Slit-Mouthed Woman (2007), Occult, Teketeke (both 2009), Cult (2013), and Sadako vs. Kayako (2016).

The CGI-centric anime series was first announced in February 2021 and produced by J.C.Staff. It was directed by Yoshinobu Yamakawa, with Hideki Shirane overseeing the series' scripts, Michiru Kuwabata designing the characters, and Gen Okuda and Takeshi Watanabe composing the series' music. Crunchyroll licensed the series outside of Asia.
In the anime, the Zakki are usually represented by three demons; a lizard with three eyes, a yellow skinned gremlin and a pink, round ball. The Zakki usually appear by suddenly dropping out of the sky and landing on his head and calling him "Seimei's grandson" much to his dismay, a running gag in the light novels and anime.
