All Modular V8s, except for the 5.0 L Coyote and 5.2 L Voodoo, utilize the same firing order as the Ford 5.0 L HO and 351 CID V8s (1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8). The 4.6 L engines have been assembled at Romeo Engine Plant in Michigan, and at Windsor Engine Plant and Essex Engine Plant , both located in Windsor, Ontario .
The 351W had larger main bearing caps, thicker and longer connecting rods, and a distinct firing order (1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 versus the usual 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8, a means to move the unacceptable "noise" of the consecutively-firing adjacent front cylinders to the sturdier rear part of the engine block all while reducing excessive main bearing load ...
As far as I know 4.6 modular, (all of them) are 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. 192.197.71.189 18:13, 19 December 2006 (UTC) -CJ The LSxs use the Ford 351/302HO/Modular firing order, not the old SBC firing order. The reason the LSx firing order looks different on paper is because GM numbers the cylinders differently, in reality the firing orders are identical.

4.0L was produced by Ford Cologne Germany (like the unrelated and the all-new metric Taurus/Sable FWD 3.0 V6). Both were put in the North American Ranger, Aerostar, Explorer platforms. The 4.0L bellhousing and the 3.0L bellhousings "MAY" interchange, but they do not interchange with the previous Cologne engines.
Animation of the 1-2-4-5-3 firing order MAN B&W 5S50MC 1,865 litre marine diesel engine. Straight-five engines are typically shorter than straight-six engines, making them easier to fit transversely in an engine bay. [1] They are also smoother than straight-four engines, [1] and are narrower than V engines [2] and flat engines.
The firing order is the same as the other AJ-V8 engines although the cylinder numbering is different (AJ37 = 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 vs. AJ26 = 1-2-7-3-4-5-6-8). The engine is assembled by hand at the AM facility in Cologne , Germany , which also builds the V12 for the DB9 and Vanquish .
IndyCars with Ford engines first competed in 1935 using a production-based Ford flathead V8 engine in the Miller-Ford racer. [7] [8]With the Offenhauser 4cyl 4.4 litre engine mounted in front-engine roadsters dominating Indy 500 races since the 1930s, and with a British Invasion of successful nimble rear-mid-engine Formula One single seater coming to the US, like two time F1 World Champion ...
