Washington is a city in south central Washington County, Utah, United States and is a part of the St. George Metropolitan Area.The area is also known as Utah's Dixie because the Mormon pioneers who settled the St. George area came to the area to raise cotton, which was milled at the cotton mill in Washington.
Startup was homesteaded by F.M. Sparling in the 1880s. [4] In 1890, William Wait laid out a townsite which he called Wallace, but this caused confusion with mail being missent to Wallace, Idaho, and in 1901 the name was changed to Startup to honor George G. Startup, manager of the Wallace Lumber Company.
