He was proprietor of Star Hotel, Echuca, 1870–1875. He married Sarah Ann Rouse (c. 1858 – 24 September 1919) around 1857 and deserted her around 1875. He lost two sons by asphyxiation (probably carbon monoxide poisoning) from charcoal embers in a closed cabin on the Lady Daly in 1865.
The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme begins to wind down, with plans for it to cease at the end of September.
