The 2025 season is Liam Cahill's third year as manager of the Tipperary senior hurling team. On 23 January Ronan Maher was again named as captain for 2025, with Jake Morris also retained as vice-captain.

On 13 July 2022, the Tipperary management committee had relieved Colm Bonnar from his duties as Tipperary senior hurling manager after one year in charge with Liam Cahill named as the new manager five days later.
Tipperary were one of the few counties that contested the first championship in 1887. Every year since that, they have contested in the Munster and All-Ireland Championship. Notes: There were no provincial championships played in 1887, rather an open draw. The championship of 1888 was unfinished.
