The medieval Hindi literature is marked by the influence of Bhakti movement and composition of long and epic poems. Awadhi and Braj Bhasha were two of the language in which literature was developed. The main works in Awadhi are Malik Muhammad Jayasi 's Padmavat and Tulsidas 's Ramacharitamanas .
Nirmal Verma (3 April 1929 – 25 October 2005) was a Hindi writer, novelist, activist and translator. He is credited as being one of the pioneers of the Nai Kahani (New Story) literary movement of Hindi literature, [1] wherein his first collection of stories, Parinde (Birds) is considered its first signature.
[3] [4] He was a leading figure in the Prayogvaad Experimentalism movement of Hindi literature and of the Nayi Kahani and Nayi Kavita Modernism of the 1950s. [5] He is also considered a central figure in the rise of 'New Criticism' in Indian literature. He was an assistant-editor of several noted Hindi journals including Naya Khun and Vasudha. [2]
