The history of Pos Malaysia Berhad can be traced back to the early 1800s with the establishment of postal services first in the Straits Settlements in Penang, Malacca and Singapore expanding through the rest of Malaya by the early 20th century. Letters were then conveyed through dispatch riders or special messengers.
The first commemorative stamps of Malaysia were issued on September 16, 1963, to celebrate the creation of the federation, showing a map of the nation. In 2004, the building was restored by the Department of Museum and Antiquity and handed over to the Malacca State Government. In 2007, the state government, in cooperation with Pos Malaysia, decided to set up the Postal Museum in the building. [1] [2] In 2023, the museum was replaced with a cafe. [3]
