Aphonopelma is a genus of tarantulas native to the Americas. It includes nearly all the North American tarantula species north of Mexico and a considerable percentage of the tarantula species that range into Central America. Most are fairly large tarantulas with leg spans of 6 in (16 cm) or more.
Chaetopelma lymberakisi is a species of tarantula commonly known as the Cretan tarantula. Its native range is restricted to the island of Crete . It was first described in 2019 by Maria Chatzaki and Marjan Komnenov and is named in honor of Petros Lymberakis, curator of vertebrates at the Natural History Museum of Crete . [ 1 ]
Similar to many tarantula species, A. Anax is non-aggressive and avoids confrontations with humans and larger animals.
