Krabi (Thai: กระบี่ pronounced) is a province (changwat) of southern Thailand, on the shore of the Andaman Sea. [5] Neighbouring provinces are (from north clockwise) Phang Nga, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Trang. Phuket province lies to the west across Phang Nga Bay. Krabi town is the seat of the provincial government.

To the south it borders Phang Nga Bay, to the East is Mueang Krabi of Krabi province. Than Bok Khorani National Park was established on 30 September 1998 and covers 104 km 2 of coastal limestone hills and 23 islands off the coast. In the national park is the skull cave (Tham Hua Kalok), containing prehistoric paintings.
The minor district (king amphoe) was created on 1 April 1992 by splitting off eight tambons from Mueang Krabi district. [1] It was upgraded to a full district on 5 December 1996. [ 2 ]
