Gomorrah (Italian: Gomorra - La serie) is an Italian crime drama television series created by Roberto Saviano for Sky Atlantic. Based on Saviano's book of the same name, [1] the show premiered on Sky Atlantic in Italy on 6 May 2014. The series ran for five seasons totaling 58 episodes until 17 December 2021.
Don Pietro Savastano is the head of a bloodthirsty Camorra branch in the Scampia neighbourhood, while Salvatore Conte is one of his connections who handles hashish traffic on his behalf. Due to the continuous rivalries between the two bosses, Don Pietro orders his right-hand man Ciro and Attilio to set fire to Conte's house, as a punishment.
Throughout the film are flashbacks to Ciro's early life in Naples. Ciro had been rescued as a baby from the 1980 Naples earthquake in which his family had been killed. As a child he was sent to an orphanage, falling under the influence of Bruno, a small time criminal who controlled a street gang of child thieves, and collaborated with Neapolitan gangster and smuggler "Blackbird" ('"o Merlo").
