"Cum On Feel the Noize" is a song by the English rock band Slade which was released in 1973 as a non-album single. It was written by lead vocalist Noddy Holder and bassist Jim Lea , and it was produced by Chas Chandler .
In 1998, tribute band Glam Rock All-Stars recorded a medley track along with other Slade songs "Cum On Feel the Noize", "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" and "Gudbuy T'Jane" for the album Glam Rock Party Supermix. In 2001, Scottish rock vocalist Doogie White (ex-member of Rainbow) recorded a version of the track for the tribute album Slade Remade. [21]
In 1997, Welsh anti-fascist Oi! band The Oppressed included a cover of the song on their extended play "The Noise" which also featured covers of Slade's "Cum On Feel the Noize" and "Gudbuy T'Jane". [48] The three covers were also included on the 1998 album More Noize for the Boys. [49]
The band re-recorded their own past hits "Cum on Feel the Noize" and "Get Down and Get with It". The remaining eight tracks were previously recorded songs from the band's catalogue, including the new single "Do You Believe in Miracles". The album was a success in the UK, where it reached No. 34 and was certified Gold.
By 1973, Slade were one of the most popular bands in Britain, having achieved two number-one singles—"Cum On Feel the Noize" and "Skweeze Me Pleeze Me"—in three months. These singles had both entered the charts straight at number one, a feat unheard of since The Beatles with "Get Back" in 1969.
Holder wrote the song's lyrics and it became "How Does It Feel". The song featured a brass section, performed by members of Gonzalez. [6] In the band's 1984 biography Feel the Noize!, Lea recalled: "It was an old song that I'd written and Nod put some great lyrics to it. Tommy Vance said that it was good but that we were in for a hard time.
The titular character was based on a real-life woman who demonstrated a sex machine on an American TV show on which the band appeared. When recording the song, the band settled on their second take. They attributed the loose feel of the recording to the fact they had not played the song until the day of its recording. [6]
Old New Borrowed and Blue is the fourth studio album by the British rock group Slade.It was released on 15 February 1974 and reached No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart.It has been certified Gold by BPI.
