Bridgewater Commons is a fully enclosed shopping mall located in Bridgewater Township, New Jersey. The mall is located at the intersection of Route 22 and Route 202 / 206 and borders I-287 . The mall opened on February 24, 1988, [ 1 ] as Somerset County 's first and has a gross leasable area of 900,000 sq ft (84,000 m 2 ).
L. S. Ayres and William H. Block were also anchors when the mall was built. Simon Property Group merged with the DeBartolo company in 1996. Simon renovated the mall in 1999. The mall faced a rough period of decline between 2005 and 2010, at which point several stores, including Old Navy, JCPenney, and Macy's, pulled out.
