Shirley Ann Redd Lewis (née Redd; born June 11, 1937) was an American educator, academic administrator, and college president.In 1994, she was the first female president of Paine College, a private, historically black Methodist college in Augusta, Georgia.

Originally started as a college and as a high school, by 1903 sufficient college-level work was provided to justify changing the school's name from Paine Institute to The Paine College. From 1921 to 1923, Tomlin served as an interim president of Paine College in Augusta, Georgia; followed by serving as president from 1923 to 1929.
Lucius Hosley Pitts Sr. (February 28, 1915 – February 25, 1974) was an American minister, theologian, educator, and academic administrator.He served as the president of Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama from 1961 to 1970, and became the first African American president of Paine College in 1971.
