Larsen & Toubro Limited, abbreviated as L&T, is an Indian multinational conglomerate, with interests in industrial technology, heavy industry, engineering, construction, manufacturing, power, information technology, military and financial services. It is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Henning Holck-Larsen (4 July 1907 – 27 July 2003) was a Danish engineer who co-founded the Indian engineering firm Larsen & Toubro (L&T) along with Søren Kristian Toubro (27 February 1906 – 4 March 1982).
In August 2021, Larsen and Toubro began construction on both the station and its depot, after acquiring 11.7 hectares of land near Chanod Colony in Dungra, with a completion deadline of 48 months. This also marked the beginning of the large-scale construction of the high-speed rail corridor project.
In 1938, Toubro partnered with his former schoolmate Henning Holck-Larsen, a chemical engineer and a fellow F.L.Smidth's employee, to establish Larsen & Toubro. The idea of L&T was conceived during a holiday in Matheran, a hill station near Mumbai. [2] Holck-Larsen was a risk-taker while Toubro was more conservative. [1]
In July 2021, Larsen and Toubro and its sub-contractor, Zed Geotechnics and Construction, began construction on the station, after acquiring 17.75 hectares of land near Uttarsanda. The station is slated to be completed by December 2024 and open by August 2026, the time also slated for opening of the Gujarat section of the high-speed rail corridor.
