Ruth Painter was born in 1892 in Salem, Virginia. She earned her bachelor's degree in 1913 from Roanoke College and a master's degree from Indiana University in English in 1914. Painter married James G. Randall on August 21, 1917. [1]

Bill Scott (born 1956 Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania) [1] is a contemporary abstract painter and printmaker who works and lives in Philadelphia. Scott studied painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts from rom 1974 to 1979, [ 2 ] and with the painter Jane Piper (1916–1991).
