As of the 2017–2018 school year, all Rhode Island students in grades 3 through 8 are expected to participate in the Rhode Island Comprehensive Assessment System (RICAS) assessments in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics. The RICAS is administered each spring, with districts and schools determining their own testing windows.

Rhode Island College had established its current campus adjacent to the facility in 1958, and began to take over the former school buildings and grounds in the 1990s. [2] The former State Home and Children's Center buildings are now used as college classrooms and offices.

Ryan Center Interior. For the 2013–2014 season Rhode Island introduced a brand new basketball court named after the local jewelry company Alex and Ani. As of January 16, 2019, the court has been renamed after the Rhode Island bank, BankRI. In 2014 the Ryan Center upgraded to a larger HD scoreboard as well as LED panels around the upper deck.
