Apollo is a borough in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, United States, 35 miles (56 km) northeast of Pittsburgh in a former coal-mining region. Apollo was settled in 1790, laid out in 1816, and incorporated as a borough in 1848. The population was 1,615 at the 2020 United States Census [3]
The soils in the watershed of West Branch Fishing Creek are acidic because of a lack of limestone. [1] The West Branch Fishing Creek watershed, along with the rest of the upper Fishing Creek watershed, experienced glaciation during the Ice Age. [1] There is a small moraine in the valley of Hemlock Run, a tributary of West Branch Fishing Creek. [7]
On April 27, 1844, the club was incorporated under the name Schuylkill Fishing Company. When the fish in the Schuylkill were poisoned by sewage, the club was forced to move again. In 1887, the club bought the Clock House, on the Delaware River at Eddington near Cornwells Heights, two miles above Andalusia.
