DeWitt County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 19,824. [2] The county seat is Cuero. [3] The county was founded in 1846 and is named for Green DeWitt, who founded an early colony in Texas.
In 1956 Kleberg incorporated as a city. By 1970 Kleberg 4,510 people and three businesses made their homes in Kleberg. By 1978 Kleberg was the largest town in Texas with no property tax. On April 3, 1978 the city was annexed by the City of Dallas. [1]
