Samar, officially the Province of Samar (Waray: Probinsya han Samar; Tagalog: Lalawigan ng Samar), or also known named as Western Samar, is a province in the Philippines located in the Eastern Visayas region. Its capital is the city of Catbalogan while Calbayog is the most populous city in the province.
Pagsanghan, officially the Municipality of Pagsanghan (Waray: Bungto han Pagsanghan; Tagalog: Bayan ng Pagsanghan), is a municipality in the province of Samar, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 7,959 people.
In 1901, the town principalia held a session extraordinaria on April 14, 1901 and passed an Act to build a new town and to transfer its location to the sitio of Dumalo-ong (present-day site of Gandara). When peace finally came to Samar in 1902, the people went about the reconstruction of the town and the church. Religious activities were resumed.

Tarangnan is situated on the western coast of Samar Island, to the south-east of the ancient town of Bangahon (now Gandara) and to the north of Samar's capital Catbalogan. Tarangnan is found near the former ancient pueblo Tinago, the first town to be Christianized and was made a center or cabecera. [5]
Tagapul-an was established as a municipality of Western Samar on November 15, 1976. It originally consisted of 11 barangays: Baguin, Balocawe, Guimbarocan, Langbaybay, Luna, Mataloto, Nipa, Pantalan, Polangbato, San Vicente, and Sugod, which was designated as the municipal seat of government.
The town of Santa Rita straddles an area of 552.6354 square kilometers (213.3737 sq mi) with a population of 41,591 as of 2015 census. Bounded by the Province of Eastern Samar in the east; Talalora in the west; Villareal and Pinabacdao in the north; and Municipality of Basey in the south. The town is located along the seacoast.
