"Dancing Queen" is a song by the Swedish group ABBA, released as the lead single from their fourth studio album, Arrival (1976). It was written by Benny Andersson , Björn Ulvaeus and Stig Anderson . [ 2 ]
Including their releases under their former name "Björn & Benny, Agnetha & Anni-Frid" or "Björn & Benny, Agnetha & Frida", ABBA have released songs for nine studio albums, a Spanish language album, a series of compilations and two live albums. A number of unreleased songs recorded by ABBA have not appeared on any of these releases.
ABBA's biggest hit singles worldwide are "Dancing Queen" and "Fernando", with Arrival being their biggest hit studio album. [ 3 ] The compilation album Gold: Greatest Hits (1992) is the second best-selling album of all time in the UK [ 2 ] and has sold over 30 million copies worldwide.
The song is unique in that it is the only studio recording to feature lead vocals by all four ABBA members. An excerpt of the song (where only Benny and Frida are heard) was released on the box set Thank You for the Music. The excerpt was particularly edited so as not to include the chorus, as it is said that Björn and Benny violently dislike it.
In June 1992, he and Ulvaeus appeared with U2 at a Stockholm concert, singing the chorus of "Dancing Queen", and a few years later during the final performance of the B & B in Concert in Stockholm, Andersson joined the cast for an encore at the piano. Andersson frequently adds an ABBA song to the playlist when he performs with his BAO band.
