Addis Ababa University (Amharic: አዲስ አበባ ዩኒቨርሲቲ; AAU) is a national university located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is the oldest university in Ethiopia. AAU has thirteen campuses. Twelve of these are situated in Addis Ababa, and one is located in Bishoftu, about 45 kilometres (28 mi) away.
Part of Addis Ababa University, the college was created in 2010 to join three separate schools—the Alle School for Fine Arts and Design, the Yoftahe Nigussie School of Theatrical Arts, and the Yared School of Music—with the Gebre Kristos Desta Center and Modern Art Museum. [5] [6] [4]

It is located at Addis Ababa University, Sidist (6) Kilo campus, which was at the time of the IES's opening, named Haile Selassie I University after the last emperor of Abyssinia. The current director of the Institute is Dr. Ahmed Hassen, an associate professor at the university.
