Hoegaarden Brewery (/ ˈ h uː ɡ ɑːr d ən / HOO-gar-dən, Dutch: [ˈɦuɣaːrdə(n)] ⓘ) is a brewery in Hoegaarden, Belgium, and the producer of a witbier, which is different from a wheat beer. Hoegaarden de-emphasizes hops, and is unfiltered, giving it the hazy, or milky, appearance--which makes it a wit (white) beer.

Pierre Celis (French pronunciation: [pjɛʁ selis], 21 March 1925 – 9 April 2011) was a Belgian brewer who opened his first brewery in 1966 to revive the wit beer style in his hometown of Hoegaarden.
This term has been used for beers, especially in Belgium, to indicate a more elaborate version of a brand. [3] InBev produces a more complex version of Hoegaarden called Hoegaarden Grand Cru, [3] while the Rodenbach Brewery produces a Rodenbach Grand Cru. [4]

Celis White is a beer brand.Pierre Celis (21 March 1925 – 9 April 2011) revived the Belgian style witbier in 1965 in Hoegaarden then moved to Austin, Texas in 1991 to start the Celis Brewery, where the witbier was being brewed amongst all his other beers like Grand cru Tripel, Pale Bock and raspberry.
By 1155, if not earlier, Hoegaarden came to be seen as the chief town of the leftover "county", which remained under the bishops. [ 6 ] The 13th-century writer Giles of Orval in his Gesta episcoporum Leodiensium (II.44) in the entry for 1099, defined the boundaries of the 11th-century version of the disputed county. [ 7 ]
