Blaj was the first place to have Romanian written with Latin alphabet instead of Cyrillic in which it had traditionally been written. Blaj was also a center for the Romanian Age of Enlightenment , being the founding site of the Transylvanian School that promoted the Roman cultural heritage of the Romanians.

The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity [1] (Romanian: Catedrala Sfânta Treime) in Blaj, Romania [2] [3] is a Romanian Greek Catholic cathedral commissioned by bishop Inocențiu Micu-Klein in 1738. The church was built by Viennese architects Anton Erhard Martinelli and Johann Baptist Martinelli , being completed in 1749.
