North Sterling State Park is a Colorado State Park located in Logan County north of Sterling, Colorado, Colorado.The 5,022-acre (2,032-hectare) park established in 1992 includes a reservoir with 2,880 acres (1,170 ha) of surface area and 6 miles (9.7 km) of hiking trails along the shoreline.
In 1926, US 38 took over its routing from Sterling, its current eastern terminus, to Nebraska. The route was paved in 1936 from Fort Collins to Ault. [3] The entire route was paved by 1963, and the eastern section of the route concurrent with U.S. Highway 6 east of Sterling was eliminated in 1968. [3] The only gap left was eliminated in 1979.
Sterling is 128 miles (206 km) northeast of Denver, and is located on Interstate 76, on the 'eastern plains' of northeastern Colorado. According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 7.43 square miles (19.2 km 2 ), all land.
