Banner Elk Hotel is a historic hotel building located at Banner Elk, Avery County, North Carolina. The original section of the hotel dates to about 1856, with expansions made between 1877 and 1891. Two-story rear wings and smaller additions were made between 1891 and 1898.
East Bend was first known as Banner's Store. It was named for merchant Martin Luther Banner. Early settler Martin Luther Banner later moved west and founded Banner Elk, North Carolina. [9] On March 7, 1887, the General Assembly incorporated the town of East Bend and named it after the east bend of the Yadkin River. [10]
The current NC 184 was established in 1956 as a new primary routing, connecting NC 105 to NC 194 in Banner Elk.
