[15] In 1951, the Wisconsin Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System authorized the school to offer Bachelor of Arts and science degrees in liberal arts; subsequently, the name of the school was changed to the Wisconsin State College at Eau Claire. During the 1960s, the university saw further expansion.
The Chalmer DaVee Library was dedicated to Dr. Chalmer DaVee in 1997. A member of the Board of Regents in 1945, DaVee insisted that the school offer a liberal arts program, and was a firm supporter of River Falls being a part of the building program, which led to the building of Hathorn Hall and the library, as well as an Industrial Arts building.
