The word rice should be of Tamil Origin. I agree that the word 'Oryza' is of Greek origin. But this word should have been originated from the Tamil word 'Rice' (Rice->ryze->ryza->oryza). As of now I do not have evidence to prove this as such, but I have another similar word which has Tamil origin.
