Upon his death, King Grayskull transferred his power into his sword that now forms the basis of He-Man's power. His wife Veena became the first Sorceress, and his advisers became the Council of Elders. He also had an enormous green lion as a mount, bearing the same armor as Battle Cat, and is presumably where Battle Cat gains his powers.
The 1985 wave of action figures again included new versions of He-Man and Skeletor with special action features: Thunder-Punch He-Man (whose backpack could be loaded with plastic ring caps to create a loud "bang" when turning He-Man's waist) and Dragon Blaster Skeletor (which included a small water-squirting dragon chained to Skeletor's armor).
The first toys for the "New Adventures" line gave a different explanation for how He-Man and Skeletor ended up in the future and how he gained his cybernetics through a mini-comic included with various figures. In the mini-comic, Skeletor learned that He-Man and Prince Adam were the same, only for Adam to become He-Man permanently.
