Gulab Khandelwal (21 February 1924 – 2 July 2017) was an Indian poet who wrote poetry in different forms such as Lyrics, Sonnets, Rubais (Quatrains), Dohas (Couplets), Odes, Elegies, Lyrical Ballads, Epics, Poetic Dramas, Ghazals, and Masnavi.
Gulab or Gulaab (Persian: گلاب gulāb) is a Persian compound noun meaning "rose water". The noun or name is combined from two nouns "gul" ( گل) which is the generic word for "flower" or the name for "rose", and " āb " ( اب ) which means "water".
The Khandelwal community traces its origin and name from Khandela, a town in Sikar district. They believe their name derives from a sage called Khandel, whose 72 1/2 sons started the 72 1/2 gotras (clans) into which the community is divided. Each clan worships its own kuldevi. [3]
