Félix Alexander Bautista (born June 20, 1995), nicknamed "The Mountain", [1] [2] is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was signed by the Miami Marlins as an international free agent in 2012. He made his MLB debut in 2022.
After the 2003 season, the Baltimore Orioles selected Bautista in the Rule 5 draft and carried him on their Opening Day roster. He made his MLB debut with Baltimore on April 4, 2004. [ 12 ] After playing 16 games with the Orioles, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays claimed him off waivers on June 3. [ 13 ]
He holds the MLB record for fewest pitches in a complete game of 8 innings or more. He threw 70 pitches in a 1-0 Orioles loss to the Seattle Mariners on September 30, 1988. He resurfaced as a relief pitcher with the Cubs in 1993, going 10–3 with a 2.82 ERA and 111 2 ⁄ 3 innings in 58 appearances (7 as a starter). [5]
