The Lewiston Morning Tribune is an independently owned newspaper in the northwestern United States, located in Lewiston, Idaho. [6] Founded in 1892, it serves eight counties in north-central Idaho and south eastern Washington, the southern portion of the Inland Empire. [7]
The first newspaper in present-day Idaho, The Golden Age, began publication in the city of Lewiston, Washington Territory in 1862, and was joined by the present (and only) newspaper, the Lewiston Morning Tribune in September 1892. In March 1863 Lewiston became the capital of the newly created Idaho Territory.
The Caldwell Tribune was founded by W. J. Cuddy in December 1883, and the newspaper originally was printed at 509 Market Avenue (Main Street) in Caldwell, Idaho. [2] The Idaho Statesman said of the six-column weekly, "[It] presents a newsy appearance."
Created by merger of Cambridge News (est. 1922) and the Midvale Reporter (est.1909). [4] Cambridge News was a rename of The Idaho Citizen, one of the oldest weekly newspapers in Idaho, founded in 1889. The Cambridge News Office (1912) is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
