The Regional Science High School Union (RSHS-Union) is a specialized system of public secondary schools in the Philippines, established during the academic year 1994-1995. It is operated and supervised by the Department of Education, with a curriculum heavily focused on math and science.
Regional Science High School for Region 1 (RSHS) is a Magnet school of the Department of Education (Philippines), established in 1994 by virtue of DECS Order No. 69, s.1993. The school has a curriculum that specializes in science and research (different from Special Science Program/Engineering and Science Education Program schools).
The Science Oriented Experimental Class (SOEC) was initiated in school year 1996–1997 "to shape and produce globally competitive and morally upright individuals who will serve as the foundation of [the] nation's great success." [2] It was an education program organized by former Valenzuela City Mayor Jose Emmanuel Carlos.
It now offers special science class for students inclined in advance mathematics and sciences, sports oriented curriculum, and the regular general secondary (high school) programs. The student population of JRLMHS today is estimated to be over 5,000, making it one of the biggest public high schools in the province of Nueva Ecija.
