Braulio Alonso (December 16, 1916 – June 5, 2010) was an American high school and junior high school teacher and principal. He served as the first Hispanic president of the National Education Association .
The school was renamed to Washington High School in 1906, and then Broadway High School in 1908. [2] Enrollment increased over the years, with the student body reaching 2,368 by the 1936–37 school year. During the school's existence, both its school paper "Whims" and its yearbook "Sealth" won multiple national awards. [2]
In the Spring season of 2007, the Mornin' After placed 5th in the High School B Division at "Spring Reign", one of the biggest Frisbee tournaments in the US, 2nd prior to play-offs, and took 1st place in the B Division playoffs. The team did not go to "Spring Reign" in 2010, but placed a high B in the High School Division. It has since disbanded.
It is Seattle Public School's oldest operating high school. [3] The school was re-opened as a comprehensive high school in the fall of 2019 after being closed in 1981 and being comprehensively renovated in 2017-2019. The school re-opened with grades 9-10 but has now reached the full capacity of four grades.

Rainier Beach High School is a member of the Metro League, part of Sea-King District 2 and the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association. In 2002, Rainier Beach's men's basketball team was ranked number 1 in the entire country [ 17 ] for a brief time. [ 18 ]
