The 107-acre (43 ha) site is located in Pacific Grove and offers overnight lodging and views of the forest, surf and sand. Asilomar (meaning "Asylum or refuge by the sea" and pronounced a-SIL-o-mar) [1] is a combination of two Spanish words: "asilo" and "mar". It is part of the native homeland of the Rumsen Ohlone people.
The hotel was built for retired businessman Samuel S. Parsons for $300,000 (equivalent to $5,163,158 in 2023). The C. L. Wold Company construction company of San Francisco was the builder. It was under construction when it was unveiled on July 1, 1926. It is located on two blocks at 551 Gibson Avenue and Forest Avenue, in Pacific Grove. [3] [1] [4]

Pacific Grove is a coastal city in Monterey County, California, in the United States. The population at the 2020 census was 15,090. [8] Pacific Grove is located between Point Pinos and Monterey. [1] The city is the location of the Point Pinos Lighthouse, the Monarch Grove Sanctuary and the Asilomar Conference Center.
It is located on the western tip of the Monterey Peninsula in Pacific Grove, California, near what was formerly known as Moss Beach. Between 1913 and 1929, architect Julia Morgan designed 16 buildings on the property, 11 of which remain standing today. [4]
