The 99D-Musket was also the only Savage 99 to have a front handguard. 99DE: "DE" presumably means "Deluxe Edition". It was Savage's cheaper "citation grade" model, almost identical to the 99PE, only had less engraving and the stock was the same as on the 99DL.
