Hocking County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio.As of the 2020 census, the population was 28,050. [2] Its county seat is Logan. [3] The county was organized on March 1, 1818, from land given by Athens, Fairfield, and Ross counties. [4]
Falls Township takes its name from a waterfall on the Hocking River, where a mill had been built in 1814, prior to the township's formation. [4] Statewide, the only other Falls Township is located in Muskingum County.
There is also an elected township fiscal officer, [7] who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the fiscal officership or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.

The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it.
