John Benson Sebastian (born March 17, 1944) [1] is an American singer, songwriter and musician who founded the rock band the Lovin' Spoonful in 1964 with Zal Yanovsky.During his time in the Lovin Spoonful, John would write and sing some of the band's biggest hits such as "Do You Believe in Magic", "Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind", and "Daydream".
Some dates featured Melanie, Edgar Winter, John Sebastian, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Mountain and the Levon Helm Band. The Woodstock Music & Art Fair was a music festival held on a 600-acre (2.4-km 2) dairy farm in the rural town of Bethel, New York, from August 15 to August 18, 1969.Thirty-two acts performed during the sometimes rainy weekend in front of nearly half a million concertgoers.
The festival was sponsored by Rheingold Breweries until 1968, when the task was handled by F. & M. Schaefer Brewing Company. [1] The cost of the annual music festival was about $500,000, and admissions, at $1 per person in 1968, were expected to bring in $250,000 to $270,000 for the summer program, leaving a deficit, picked up by Schaefer, of more than $200,000.
