"Love Divine, All Loves Excelling" is a Christian hymn by Charles Wesley, first published in 1747. It was initially published as part of his Hymns for Those that Seek and Find and quickly became a central hymn in both Methodist and wider Christian worship .
Blaenwern is a Welsh Christian hymn tune composed by William Penfro Rowlands (1860–1937), during the Welsh revival of 1904–1905. It was first published in Henry H. Jones' Cân a Moliant (1915). The metre of the tune is 8.7.8.7.D (alternating lines of eight and seven syllables) in F major or G major key, or occasionally A flat major.
Probably his best-known composition is the hymn-tune "Blaenwern", composed in 1905 and often used as the setting for Love Divine, All Loves Excelling. As well as being a church musician, Rowlands taught in several schools and was conductor of the Morriston United Choral Society. [3]
