Within 15 years, Love and his staff had transformed Gulf Coast tourism by attracting more than 100 conventions to the hotel each year. For the 12-month period ending May 31, 2009, the airport had 2,800 aircraft operations, an average of 233 per month: 57% air taxi and 43% general aviation .
The crescent shape beach brings in driftwood that slows down the waves and makes it dangerous to stand in the water. Within walking distance are a few homes of members of the Quileute Indian Tribe which is where the beach is located, the Quileute Indian Reservation.
