Gresham Motorsports Park (formerly Jefco Speedway, Georgia International Speedway and Peach State Speedway) is a half-mile (.8 km) paved oval auto racing track in Jefferson, Georgia. The track opened in 1967, named Jefco Speedway. Tom Pistone won the inaugural event, a NASCAR Late Model Sportsman race. [1]
Hart County is a county in the Northeast region of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 25,828. [1] The county seat is Hartwell. [2] Hart County was created December 7, 1853, and named for Nancy Hart. Of Georgia's 159 counties, Hart County is the only one named after a woman. Lake Hartwell is also named for her. [3]
On March 16, 1969, David Pearson won the first of two events at the track during this last season of racing. He won over Richard Petty with Bobby Isaac finishing third after starting on the pole with a record lap of 86.901 mph (139.854 km/h). On October 19, 1969, a field of 29 cars took the green flag at the track for the last time.

The Middle Georgia Raceway was a raceway located in Byron, Georgia. Nine NASCAR Grand National Series races were held at the track between 1966 and 1971. Richard Petty won four races, Bobby Allison won three, and David Pearson and Bobby Isaac each earned one victory.
The track ended weekly racing at the end of the 2011 season, but remained open for larger events. In 2022, High Octane resumed weekly car events at the raceway for the first time since 2011. The Pro All Stars Series hosted a national super late model event at Lanier on November 15–16, 2019. This served as the PASS National Championship final. [2]

Bill Elliott for one, got his first racing win there and went on to bigger and better things. Many local people's families who race are nephews or cousins or uncles of people who raced in past year's race at Dixie. May 23, 2009 was actually Dixie Speedway day for the state of Georgia. It was the 40th anniversary race.
