A river in Kerinci Seblat National Park. It is located between 100°31'18"E - 102°44'01"E and 1°07'13"S - 3°26'14"S. The park area includes a large part of the Barisan mountain range, which forms the western spine of Sumatra island and includes the highest peak in Sumatra, Mount Kerinci (3,805 m), one of more than five active volcanoes in the national park.
The area was first protected by the Dutch East Indies government in 1935, that declared the South Sumatra I Nature Reserve. [5] The area became a national park in 1982. [6] Since the 1970s there have been numerous squatters established within the park, and despite forced evictions in the early 1980s, their numbers increased since 1998.
Sembilang National Park is a national park covering 2,051 km 2 along the east coast of Sumatra, Indonesia.The park is dominated by swamps as peat forests, like the neighbouring Berbak National Park, and both parks are Ramsar wetlands of international importance. [2]
